Quick Review: Hotel Iris
This novel was more like the Ogawa of The Diving Pool. At times, it was slow like The Housekeeper + The Professor, but it was disturbing rather than oddly sentimental. Just finished reading Yoko Ogawa’s novel. I had previously read her short stories in The Diving Pool. This was much different to those disturbing but intriguing tales.  Like much of Ishiguro’s oeuvre (I wrote a thesis at Yale about his work), this novel is very slow superficially and seems to have a deeper turbulence under the surface. How poor was Prince of Persia?
Nothing worse than a period drama based on an unrealistic story. How many times did we have to watch Jake Gyllenhaal and that chick almost kiss? Too many unnecessary action sequences. Topped off by an ending that made the entire movie pointless. No time wasters please!
